Temptations, Identity, and Homosexuality

I haven’t written in this blog for like two years, but I want to write in it more. And I mean actually write, because I mostly shared funny pictures, which I might continue, I am not sure yet.

I want to write about something that was discussed in my institute class last night. We watched a Q & A with Elder David A. Bednar, which I think is appropriate to talk about today since it is his birthday. In the video he talks about how there are no homosexuals in the Church. He is not saying that there is no same-sex attraction in the Church, but that we are all children of God, and not defined by our sexuality. Continue reading

There Has Been An Awakening

Well I haven’t written in my blog for a while, so I’ll startstar-wars-force-awakens-official-poster up again. Yesterday the new Star Wars movie came out (in case you ventured outside the galaxy for the last couple years), and though I haven’t seen it yet I am excited for it to come out. However, I won’t be able to see it till January 12 (but that’s okay, I will be getting in for free, so I can’t complain). The main reason I am writing this post is to show you this video I cannot stop watching (see video below). Hopefully I will be able to write more posts (and actually write instead of just posting pictures and videos) in the future. Continue reading

A New Chapter

Today is my last day on my service mission. It has been Mission_1fun and enjoyable. I am glad that I was able to help with the Lord’s work by helping make records available so others and reach out and help their ancestors receive the ordinances needed to gain Eternal Life. I have enjoyed working at the Orem Records Operation Center or ROC. I have especially enjoyed making friends with the other missionaries working there. I will miss them an d the work I was able to do, but I am also excited to start a new chapter in my life. I know the Church is true, and I am looking for the next calling in life that Lord has in store for me. Continue reading

Why is it important to learn about my family history?

Why is it important to learn about my family history?

Family History Work and Genealogy

True to the Faith, (2004), 61–64

On April 3, 1836, the prophet Elijah came to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery in the Kirtland Temple. He conferred upon them the sealing power of the priesthood, making it possible for families to be sealed throughout the generations. In conferring this power, he fulfilled the prophecy that the Lord would send him “to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers” (see D&C 110:14–16cropFamily-Tree-Final-615x584; see also Malachi 4:5–6).

Through family history work, you can participate in the continuing fulfillment of this prophecy. You can learn about your ancestors and increase your love for them. You can be inspired by their stories of courage and faith. You can pass that legacy on to your children.

These are lasting benefits that come from family history work, but they are not the principal reasons for the Church’s great effort to gather genealogical records. All of the Church’s family history endeavors are directed to the need to form a “welding link … between the fathers and the children” (D&C 128:18). This welding link is formed by the power of the priesthood, through sacred temple ordinances we receive in behalf of our ancestors. Continue reading

General conference was awesome (not as awesome as when I sang in it, but still), and the written versions of the talks just came out today! Click here to see them. This time around, I am planning to write a post for each one individually. Since this will obviously take a while (I probably might finish when next conference comes around…), enjoy some funny memes in the memetime:
