First Week of School

Nathaniel Ryan Robinson

I am sorry I have not been posting much this week. It is the first week of school, so I was busy. So in this post I will write about some highlights of my week starting with last Thursday.

Last Thursday and Friday I was able to be part of a Studio C sketch as an extra. It was a really fun opportunity. The sketch is supposed to be a rap battle. I will post the video as soon as they put it on You Tube. I also was able to meet a new friend.

Monday was the first day of school. I go to Utah Valley University and I am a Cinema Production major. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I have one class then I go to my service mission. The class I have on those days is called, “Audio Production Essentials”. My professor happens to be Orson Scott Card‘s brother, Arlen Card.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are full days at school. First I have two institute classes, that help start my day Then I have math… After that I have Cinema Production Essentials than Interaction design. Then Fridays I go to my service mission the whole day.

Baptisms for the Dead

Nathaniel Ryan Robinson

timp-temple
On Saturday, I was able to baptize my brother for the dead in the temple. It was my first time baptizing. I was also able to confirm him for the dead, along with other kids that were there. As I was doing this I could feel the Spirit really strongly. I knew that the spirits of those who my brother was being baptized and ordained for (they were family names) were with there watching. This is very special and important, for now they have an opportunity to join the Church, an opportunity they did not have when they were alive. Continue reading

Youth Conference and Journal Writing

Nathaniel Ryan Robinson

Mission JournalThis last weekend I went on a Youth Conference, with the youth in my ward. We went to Flaming Gorge. We camped and went boating, and some of the youth went fishing, but the main part was the devotionals given by the leaders.

The Bishop was the first person to give a devotional. He talked about remembering and journal writing. He said that we should not only write it down, but read what we wrote later. He then told us to write in are journal after each leader devotional. Unfortunately, my journal decided to hide in the trailer. Continue reading

A Light Unto the World

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
-Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV)

Last night, I went to a young service missionary (which I am) devotional. The speaker was John Bytheway, a well known speaker among Latter-day Saints, who is very funny as well as being spiritual.mw-with-john-bytheway
Before he spoke, they had some young service missionaries share their testimonies. One sister missionary was talking about how we “glow” as servants of Christ. This inspired him to change his talk. Fortunately, since he speaks at many devotionals and firesides, he had multiple slides set up. Continue reading
