At my service mission I have started a new project. After obituaries have been indexed, then reviewed by arbitrators, they now go through a process called truth set. I now get to compare the results from the different indexers and arbitrators, and decide if they are correct. I get to learn more about the people in the obituaries. Most of them are people who died of old age, but I had come across a young girl in a triple homicide, which was interesting (and sad). I can feel the Spirit of Elijah as I do these and actually pay attention to who they are about. I know this is the Lord’s work, and that I am helping bring souls unto Him.
I was unable to post this yesterday, but yesterday was my sister Grace’s birthday. She is one of my best friends (the one I am stuck with anyways, not that that is a bad thing). She is a good sister and a fun person to have around. I am glad to have her in my life, so Happy Birthday (yesterday), Grace!
I am sorry I have not been posting much this week. It is the first week of school, so I was busy. So in this post I will write about some highlights of my week starting with last Thursday.
Last Thursday and Friday I was able to be part of a Studio C sketch as an extra. It was a really fun opportunity. The sketch is supposed to be a rap battle. I will post the video as soon as they put it on You Tube. I also was able to meet a new friend.
Monday was the first day of school. I go to Utah Valley University and I am a Cinema Production major. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I have one class then I go to my service mission. The class I have on those days is called, “Audio Production Essentials”. My professor happens to be Orson Scott Card‘s brother, Arlen Card.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are full days at school. First I have two institute classes, that help start my day Then I have math… After that I have Cinema Production Essentials than Interaction design. Then Fridays I go to my service mission the whole day.
On Saturday, I was able to baptize my brother for the dead in the temple. It was my first time baptizing. I was also able to confirm him for the dead, along with other kids that were there. As I was doing this I could feel the Spirit really strongly. I knew that the spirits of those who my brother was being baptized and ordained for (they were family names) were with there watching. This is very special and important, for now they have an opportunity to join the Church, an opportunity they did not have when they were alive. Continue reading
This last weekend I went on a Youth Conference, with the youth in my ward. We went to Flaming Gorge. We camped and went boating, and some of the youth went fishing, but the main part was the devotionals given by the leaders.
The Bishop was the first person to give a devotional. He talked about remembering and journal writing. He said that we should not only write it down, but read what we wrote later. He then told us to write in are journal after each leader devotional. Unfortunately, my journal decided to hide in the trailer. Continue reading
Happy Father’s Day to my dad and all dads across the universe. Thank you dad for raising me and spending time with me, and working all day long to help support your family. Thank you for being worthy and holding the priesthood. I love you dad! Here are some Father’s Day quotes below: Continue reading
Friday I had the opportunity to go on a film shoot. I want to be a movie director (and writer), so I had to go. They were shooting a book trailer for The Golden Cord, by Paul Genesse. Unlike most book trailers that are just narration and pictures, this actually has scenes from the book acted out. Continue reading
